About My Practice
My Approach
As a therapist, I am informed by a systems perspective, seeking to understand the ways in which all aspects of an individual’s experience influences or complicates their life and aspire to assist individuals in living as authentically as possible. I approach therapy through anti-oppressive and trauma-informed lenses and utilize several modalities of care. I am trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention (information provided in the Resources page). In addition to these modalities, I practice aligned with trauma-informed care, somatics, mindfulness and meditation, substance-related concerns and recovery, Motivational Interviewing, systems theory, familial and interpersonal autonomy, and the navigation of complicated trauma, loss, and grief. My desire to become a therapist was influenced by traumatic loss and grief in my own life, a process that led to challenges in resource connection, barriers to care, and questions about what grieving authentically would look like. As a survivor of parental suicide and complicated loss, therapy and the healing journey has changed my life and shaped my calling. I hope to be of assistance in empowering individuals in their autonomy, experience, story, and aspirations, always returning to the truth found in the self.
I believe that therapy must be a safe, collaborative, and empowering space and relationship. A therapeutic process that an individual feels they are benefitting from, a practice experience that brings challenge and humor, heaviness and light, and authenticity from both individuals involved. I am invested in the continual learning and growth of trauma-informed care, staying up-to-date on relevant research while expanding further into deeper cultural understanding of individuals and populations of people’s lived experience. I seek to bring curiosity, exploration, creativity, and compassionate care to the work I do with individuals and would love to connect to see if it is the support you are seeking.
I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee in the state of Washington and have worked clinically in the co-occurring space for 15 years. I received my BA in Psychology and Master’s in Social Work from Seattle University. My career began by working with adolescents and adults in the developmental space, primarily around intellectual, developmental, and attention-related concerns. Within the co-occurring field, I have worked extensively in inpatient, outpatient, and hospital withdrawal management services, coaching and interventions, and transitional housing at the public, private, and non-profit levels. In my time in outpatient services, I was part of a team that developed a primary mental health partial hospitalization program (PHP), as well as a co-occurring PHP program where I functioned as an individual and group therapist. I am currently the clinical director of a non-profit agency that provides re-entry housing, employment, and community services to legal system impacted individuals through trauma-informed, recovery programming. I have been fortunate in having such overlap in my career and what I feel to be my calling in life, of which it has been an absolute honor and joy to be trusted by the individuals I have worked with in therapy.
In my free time I enjoy making very noisy music, art, and taking photos (images throughout this website are some that I shot from around the world that bring me joy!), spending time with my family, friends, partner, and our dog, Emerald, working on home projects, skiing, and engaging in my own healing journey of recovery and spiritual practice. Participating in my own healing and being a part of others journey has meant the world to me! If you would like to schedule time for a free consultation call, please do not hesitate to reach out to me to connect.
